A trip to London with Potter House Interiors

I took the Z50ii video rig to London on a trip with Potter House Interiors to the Chelsea Design Centre – it wasn’t really a job, but a useful first test of the setup. Lots of useful lessons…

Holly from Potter House Interiors was going to visit the WOW!House 2026 exhibit at the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour and suggested it might be a good outing for me to join, so I could get some video and photos for her socials.

Once I had the edit, it was trivial to convert the sequence to a 9:16 vertical alternative for use on Instagram (and as a YouTube short in future).

Lessons learned…

The Z50ii rig wasn’t quite complete at this point, and I didn’t want to be too obtrusive when she was visiting with vendors, so I didn’t rig it up with a microphone or the Atomos Shinobi monitor. The microphone was fine, as we didn’t intend for there to be any audio – the goal is a hero video for her upcoming website – but not using the monitor was a bit of a mistake, to be honest. I didn’t take any ND filters and couldn’t judge the exposure very well on the built-in monitor, and the resulting footage is a bit shaky at times due to missing weight.

In the edit, I also noticed that I didn’t leave enough pre- and post-roll to be able to do the cross-fades as perfectly as I would have liked.

Grading in Premiere was surprisingly easy, and I love the resulting colours, it fits Holly’s vibe perfectly.

Photos

We didn’t get many photos, I was mainly playing with video. The main atrium was impressive, as was the surrounding area, and Holly is always photogenic.

I also had the chance to catch up with a friend for coffee near St. Paul’s, and the sunset from the train was a fitting end to the day.
