A skull and crossbones on the east wall of Llangelynnin Old Church, painted beneath the Ten Commandments in Welsh, near the altar. Date unknown. The motif was common in medieval churches – a reminder of human mortality and the parts of the body required for resurrection. Llangelynnin has been a place of worship for over nine centuries. It sits at 280m on the slopes of Tal y Fan above the Conwy valley, with no electricity, no heating, and no running water – @caruconwy hold a service on the third Sunday of every month during the summer.
